Angela Gossow gibt bei ARCH ENEMY das Mikro ab!

Etwas plötzlich kommen ARCH ENEMY mit dieser Meldung raus. Angela Gossow gibt bei den schwedischen Deathern das Mirko ab. Die Nachfolgerin wurde mit Alissa White-Gluz, die vorher bei THE AGONIST sang, auch gleich bekannt gegeben.

Der genaue Wortlaut liest sich auf der ARCH ENEMY Homepage wie folgt:

In early June 2014, ARCH ENEMY will unleash their 9^th studio album, War Eternal, worldwide via Century Media Records and Trooper Entertainment in Japan.

With this upcoming release, the band will introduce a new member to their ranks: Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist of Canadian extreme metallers THE AGONIST. Angela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now classic Wages Of Sin (2001), will be stepping down as front-woman and focusing on management, while Alissa takes her place.

Angela Gossow comments:

“Dear ARCH ENEMY fans, this is not easy to tell you…I have decided to step down from being ARCH ENEMY’s voice of anger. After 13 years of pure fucking metal, 6 studio albums and countless tours through five continents, I feel the need to enter a different phase in my life, be with my family and pursue other interests. I will however remain business manager for ARCH ENEMY, and I will continue to develop my artist management roster.

I am staying true to my heavy metal roots, just leaving the spotlight so to speak. I am passing the torch to the super talented Alissa White-Gluz, whom I’ve known as a dear friend and a superb vocalist for many years. I always thought she deserved a chance to shine – and now she’s getting it. Just like I got that chance back in 2001.

I want to thank all ARCH ENEMY fans, our labels Century Media (worldwide) and Trooper Entertainment (Japan), our dedicated road crew, and in particular Michael, Daniel and Sharlee for their love and support throughout all these years. It’s been one hell of a ride! We conquered every situation, made it through thick & thin together in the most exciting and rewarding time of my life. Thank you all for being there with me on stage, in front of the stage, and backstage. You have touched my heart, and I hope I was able to give something back to you. I am grateful for the wonderful memories - I will cherish them forever!

I am looking forward to the next decade of ARCH ENEMY madness! Right now I am listening through rough mixes of the new studio album and I am blown away! 2014 will see a renewed ARCH ENEMY at the top of their game. I am proud to be part of this ARCH ENEMY chapter, albeit in a different way - revving up the engines behind the scenes. I hope to see you in front of the stage, I will join you there this time. Let the killing begin, once again!”

Alissa White-Gluz comments: 

"I am very honored and happy to announce a new chapter in my life and musical career beginning now; I have joined forces with one of my all-time favorite and globally respected bands, ARCH ENEMY. ‘Wages of Sin’ was the first metal album I ever bought, and it was love at first listen. It is not often that you get a phone call from your favorite band asking you to join! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such amazingly talented musicians whom I also consider great friends. Chief song-writer and band leader Michael Amott, who founded ARCH ENEMY in 1995, comments:

Neue Rubrik im Totentanz – Euer Metal-Fanzine im Netz

Ab sofort gibt es eine neue Rubrik beim Totentanz mit dem Namen „Hail or Kill?“. In dieser werden zukünftig in unregelmäßigen Abständen Reviews zu Szenerelevanten Alben erscheinen, mit einem Unterschied zu den normalen Besprechungen: Hier werden einige Redakteure ihre persönliche Meinung zu dem Album schreiben und somit evtl. für eine andere Sichtweise sorgen, oder die Meinung des Redakteurs mit eigenen Worten unterstreichen und somit die Relevanz und Klasse des Albums noch hervorheben.
Wir werden sehen, wie die Alben in der Gunst der Schreiber wegkommen und ob es dann heißt Hail or Kill?

Den Anfang machen, dem Namensgeber der Rubrik zu Ehren, Manowar mit ihrer Neueinspielung des Klassikers "Kings Of Metal". Hier gehts zum ersten "Hail or Kill?"

                                                                     Holy Moses - Mayhem im Anmarsch.....

Beim Namen Holy Moses spitzen die meisten Thrash Metal Fans die Ohren und geraten auch schon mal in helle Aufregung. Zu Recht, denn das neue Album „Redefined Mayhem“ steht in den Startlöchern.

Die Band gehört seit den frühen Achtzigern zu den festen Größen des deutschen Thrash Metal. Das das immer noch der Fall ist, bekräftigt Sängerin Sabine Classen: „Bei Holy Moses hat es noch nie Standard-Thrash-Songs gegeben und es wird sie auch niemals geben“. Wir schreiben Songs, die uns selbst gefallen und machen keine Kompromisse an Trends oder Zugeständnisse an falsche Erwartungen. Wir müssen nicht jedem gefallen, wir sind unsere eigene Marke, haben unseren eigenen Sound, dazu gehören krumme Takte, technisch anspruchsvolle Passagen und ungewöhnliche Akkordstrukturen ebenso wie interessante Texte, die sich mit den Schattenseiten der Menschen oder der menschlichen Psyche beschäftigen.“

Insgesamt 13 neue Stücke haben Holy Moses im vergangenen Herbst in den eigenen Studios von Sabina Classen und Thomas Neitsch (der das Album auch produziert hat) eingespielt, gemischt und gemastert wurde Redefined Mayhem von Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Dark Tranquility, Extol) in Dänemark. Classen: „Tue hatte von Beginn an total Bock auf Holy Moses, er hat uns erzählt, dass unsere Songs ihn seine Jugend über begleitet haben und er sehr stolz ist, unsere neue Scheibe mischen zu dürfen.“

Musikalisch hat sich die Band das 89er Album The New Machine Of Lichtenstein als Ausgangspunkt gesetzt und dessen Kernaussage weiterentwickelt. Es geht von tiefen Death Metal-Shouts bis hin zu hexenartigen Schreien, gepaart mit einem modernen, melodischen und strukturell klaren Ansatz sowie fabelhaften Gitarrensoli. Außerdem lässt die Band mehr als jemals zuvor auch Death- und Black Metal ins Arrangements einfließen.

Classen sagt weiter: „Es ist immer noch erstklassiger Thrash Metal, temporeich und powervoll, mitunter chaotisch, verrückt und cool, aber mit einem modernen Touch und ungemein vielschichtiger Gitarren- und Drums-Arbeit.“

"Ruining Lives" ist der Nachfolger des gefeierten 2012er-Releases “Carved Into Stone" und zeigt die Band auf einem nicht zu bremsenden Aufwärtstrend. Das Album beweist, dass PRONG trotz einer langen, illustren Karriere noch höchstrelevante Songs schreiben und sich immer wieder neu erfinden, ohne ihre Wurzeln zu verleugnen. 

Mit Tommy Victor in der Produzentenrolle und einer Rückkehr von Steve Evetts (Hatebreed, Sick Of It All, Sepultura)  als zusätzlicher Produzent und Mixer ist “Ruining Lives" ein 100%iges Prong-Album geworden. Von der ersten Riff -Attacke des Openers "Turnover", führt einen das Album auf eine abwechslungsreiche Achterbahnfahrt, die absolute Old-School-“Beg To Differ”-Elemente mit Post-Punk-, Industrial-Metal und Hardcore-Thrash vereint, all das unter Beibehaltung eines modernen und aktuellen Sounds. Fans der legendären, Genre-definierenden "Cleansing"-Ära und neue Fans werden gleichermaßen begeistert sein.

Tommy Victor über “Ruining Lives”: “This is the fastest written and recorded PRONG-album ever and it has more great songs than any previous PRONG-record. I am particularly proud of the vocal performance and I think we captured some outstanding sounds on this album. There’s a little bit of a throwback element here. “Ruining Lives” is almost a “Force Fed” type of song. The album is a hybrid between NY Hardcore and some very modern, song oriented work. You will find some “Rude Awakening” but also some solid, crushing riffs. I feel we have captured the best elements of PRONG on this album.“Come To Realize” is something new - we have never approached this kind of time-signature. It really is math-metal meets pure hardcore with a crazy-ass riff. What’s exciting about the whole album is you have your hooks, your riffs and something innovative that makes the album very current. This qualifies as the hybrid nature of PRONG: marrying post-punk, industrial metal, hardcore thrash and modern elements — all of that with hooks and not just a bunch of screaming.”
